Two teachers have been arrested for allegedly consuming alcohol in public during their payday last week.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Malaita Province Inspector Michael Ramosaea confirmed the arrest to Solomon Star Auki.
He said two teachers were also in possession of kwaso during the time of the arrest.
PPC Ramosaea said the arrest took place on Thursday night after the two teachers were spotted consuming kwaso in public.
He said police were alarmed by the level of noise coming from the drunken teachers at a location opposite Auki BSP bank, which is just some meters away from the police station.
The two teachers are from the Northern region of Malaita Province.
