LEADERS of Schools in Honiara currently participating in the Solomon Islands School Leadership Program have acquired new knowledge about the importance of Visionary Leadership.
The workshop opened in Honiara, Wdnesday.
Institute of Education Facilitator Jean Tafoa, said Visionary Leadership is significant to school leaders in a sense that it helps them look further into the future in what they want to achieve in their schools.
She said going through visionary leadership with the school leaders will help them to define their goals and their missions in their respective schools as leaders.
She said it is important to teach this concept of Visionary Leadership to school leaders because we need school leaders to be Visionary in their leadership at their respective schools.
“We want all the school leaders to be Visionary Leaders. This is why they need to be taught skills so that they themselves can embraced those characters of Visionary Leadership to bring about change since they are mentors in their schools”, she said.
She explained that as part of the Visionary Leadership concept taught, the participating school leaders were expected at the end of the day to develop, translate and promote the school vision statement, into the School Development Action plan.
She said not only that, but school leaders were also expected to know how to engage stakeholders in their short and long term School Development Plans.
She said school leaders were expected to demonstrate understanding of the process involved in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the School Development and Action Plans.
