TEACHERS representing Western province are looking forward to join the 2018 World Teachers Day celebration in Auki, Malaita Province.
Around 82 of them including other provincial teachers have left Honiara on Monday on board the MV Fair Chief to participate in the celebration.
Speaking to the Solomon Star at the wharf, one of the young teachers from Western Province Margret Vela said they are so excited and looking ahead to the celebration.
“We are so excited and look forward to participate in our big day celebration in Auki.
“Most of us are for the first time will travel to Malaita and we look forward to learn from their culture as well as other provinces that will also be part of the celebration,” she said.
Ms Vela said they have prepared for that event with lots of activities to be presented such as dancing, action, singing and to share their cultural show as part of showing their identity.
“We are all teachers from different provinces and it’s our time to share our culture, our experiences and to learn from each other,” she said
She said they look forward for the whole of the week’s celebration and expect to return on the weekend.
Leonie Meqoqole said their team consists of 82 teachers including both males and females that are selected from all over the province.
