A GROUP of Solomon Islands teachers paid a courtesy visit to the Solomon Islands Embassy in Suva, Fiji, on Monday.
The teachers, mostly from the Adventist schools in the country, are in Fiji ahead of a three-day training at the Fulton Adventist University Collage in Nadi this week.
Because they had more free time since their arrival in Fiji last week, they traveled to Suva where they stayed last weekend.
Early this week, reports reaching Solomon Star confirmed that a courtesy visit was paid by the teachers to the Solomon Islands embassy in the Fiji capital.
The group is led by Education Director for the Western Sub-Region Education Office, Adriane Kele and other senior teachers.
A member of the delegation, Simeon Bouro said the visit to the embassy was a fruitful one because they were able to hear and learn about the work of the office and the importance of having such an office in Suva.
“During the visit, they were met by one of the officers, Counseller Madolyn Yalu, who encouraged some of the qualified teachers to consider furthering their education at the University of the South Pacific (USP).
“Yalu encouraged teachers with Bachelors in Education to do upgrade studies for Masters here at the main USP campus in Suva,” Mr Bouro said.
Mr Bouro said the delegation would travel to Nadi this morning, ahead of the training which will commence tomorrow.
More than 40 teachers serving under the Adventist Education Authority are attending the training.
The training will end on Sunday.
