A TEENAGE male who consumed beer at Talise Bus Stop area, Honiara, and used abusive words at some boys after the New Year has been fined a total of $1,000 yesterday.
He has until today to pay up his fine or failure to do so will result in a 40-day imprisonment.
The teenager who is a form five student at one of the high schools in Honiara was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to one count of Using Abusive Words and Consuming Liquor in Public Place.
On January 2, the defendant was spotted by the Police drinking a Solbrew beer at the Talise market and bus stop area.
When the Police Officers stopped their vehicle and warned the defendant, other boys at the area laughed at the defendant
The defendant then used abusive words at the boys.
Principal Magistrate, Felix Hollison, had imposed a fine of $600 for the charge of Consuming Liquor in Public Place while he imposed $400 for Using Abusive Words.
