LOCAL telecommunication giant Our Telekom has apologised to its customers as a result of a slow mobile internet in recent days.
In a statement yesterday, the company said its technical team have identified the cause.
“A solution is being implemented,” it stated.
The Solomon Star understands that the slow internet speed was experienced since New Year’s Day when Our Telekom introduced its RED HOT Giga-Fibre Speed specials for this month.
The Red Hot special allows customers to subscribe for 1 Gigabytes (GB) of data for $9 for 24 hours and $22.00 for 3 Gigabytes (GB) for a duration of two days.
Since more people have subscribed to the promotion, the slow internet becomes an issue.
A lot of customers took their disagreements, criticisms, and concerns to social media.
However, having seen the concerns raised, this paper was told that Our Telekom decided to solve the cause to allow mobile users more reliable internet connectivity.
The Solomon Star was also told that the Fibre Optic Internet Cable is now currently being tested.
Full and commercial operations should come into play starting February.
