TELEKOM launched its 3G network at Visale, northwest Guadalcanal, last weekend.
Solomon Star’s Guadalcanal stringer John Toki was at the launch.
Toki said the event took place at Visale Mission Station, and witnessed by surrounding villagers.
According to Toki the launching featured programs like sale of mobile phones, SIM cards, live music performance, dancing and issuing of T-Shirts and bags for best dancers.
He said Chief Raymond Kapini of Sahalu ward and Fr. John Tahiew have expressed their gratitude to the staff and management of Out Telekom for selecting Chiromahati to erect their tower.
He said the two community leaders were happy with the upgrade.
Toki said the 3G network will bring to the communities, school and church reliable communication and internet.
He said students of Visale and other Rural Training Centers (RTC) within N/West Guadalcanal will benefit from communication and internet service.
“Communication is very important for people living in rural areas,” he said.
Despite of the arson incident last year that saw the burning down of solar panel and other properties of Our Telekom at Chiromahati, our Telekom has rebuilt and reinstalled the properties and upgrade the 2G network to 3G.
Toki stressed that people of Sahalu ward were happy for the 3G network.
Our Telekom continues to improve 2G to 3G network throughout the provinces.
