Our Telekom says the sudden drop in calls and silence during phone conversation is an issue they strive to stop.
This was in response to complaints raised by Our Telekom mobile subscribers, who expressed their frustrations on communication breakdown, disturbing background sounds and muted conversations.
Last week press conference senior officials of the company told the media that such problem might relate to geographical setting, as well as the weather of that day.
They explained it is not easy to address such problem, since this is the fact of the country that made up of scattered islands distantly located from each other, hence makes it difficult in terms of transport (e.g. Tikopia) to regularly visit and inspect the equipment installed in those remote islands.
“We have attempted to recreate this problem, but the problem appears to be intermittent. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. This type of fault symptom is not an easy one to track to identify and fix the network element concerned,” a senior officer explained.
He continued, as to deduction of credit; as far as the on-line charging system is concerned, the call is still established and has not been disconnected to stop the credit usage. This is not an ideal situation and we are working continuously to rectify and will provide an update in 2- weeks’ time.
The company said it would not refund credit of customers who experience the problem, but if they know about the customer name and mobile number are provided to them, they will make contact with that person and carry out investigation in their platforms to verify the complaints of credit reduction.
“A decision to reimburse or not can be made following the investigation,” the statement concluded.
