Temotu Province football team registered their first three points clear in the Solomon Games football competition following their 1-0 against a determined Honiara side at the Lawson Tama Stadium yesterday.
The win puts them on second place with four points behind Western Turtles who also has four points but with two points in goal difference.
The lone goal came in the first half by Allen Aubo just before the half time whistle.
Both teams had their chances but just could not find the right combination upfront to finish it off properly.
The struggle from both teams went a little messy later in the second half which saw three players, Honiara custodian and defender along with a Temotu forward player clashed and resulted in a substitution and two red cards leaving both sides with 10 players each to complete the 90 minutes of play.
Despite the many struggles the match ended with Temotu coming out victorious and leaving Honiara with only one point picked from their draw with Isabel Frigates in their opening match.
The day’s second match between Isabel Frigates and Central Province ended in a 1-1 draw.
Matches will continue today featuring Malaita and Lauru at 2pm followed by Makira and Guadalcanal at 4pm.
Matches will be played at the Lawson Stadium.
