TEMOTU Province is set to host the most prestigious Our Telekom National U20 netball championship at the end of this month at their capital Lata.
Temotu Sports Development Officer (SDO) Willie Moli confirmed this to Star Sports from Lata on Friday.
“This will be our first time to host such national event and we are so proud and proud and are eagerly looking forward to host the championship,’’ he said.
“Our provincial government has also indicted their appreciation and has rendered their support towards hosting of this national event,’’ he said.
“Since we received the news that we will host the championship in Lataour provincial government has pledge its full support to make this year’s event a successful that can be remembered in the future,’’ he said.
“Members of the public here in Lata are also excited about this event are ready to welcome all the participating teams that will take part in the championship,’’ he said.
He said a Local Organising Committee (LOC) has already been established and they are currently doing great job in preparation to host the Championship.
“So far preparation is progressing well, by next week we will work on the stage, dressing rooms for the players and put a tank beside the court,’’ he said.
Moli said they are also planning to stage fundraising events to raise money to support their preparatory work.
For accommodation Moli said, the LOC has already talked to owners of the people who owned motels, rest houses and other available building with the capital.
Meanwhile the championship is set for 28th November to the 2nd of December 2016 at Temotu provincial capital Lata.
