Tenagahu Community in Northeast Guadalcanal recently benefit from a two-day cocoa training.
It was successfully organized and conducted by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) through its Soul Cocoa Plus Livelihood Project (SCPL).
ADRA Australia, through SCPL, funded the training.
The training took place at Tenagahu Community from Wednesday, February 5, to Thursday, February 6, 2025.
The project hired private cocoa consultant Robert Waisu to facilitate the training.
A total of 83 existing and newly interested cocoa farmers from Tenagahu and surrounding communities responded to the invitation and attended the training.

As part of its support for farmers, ADRA also distributed cocoa polybags.
The training covered key aspects of cocoa farming, including: Cocoa pruning and grafting techniques, Site and seed selection, Identification of high-quality cocoa seedlings, Baseline and lining methods, Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM) demonstrations, Nursery establishment and the history of cocoa and cocoa production statistics in the Solomon Islands
An additional cocoa training sessions for other communities will be organized in the coming weeks.
