Dear Editor – I wish to thank the government for allowing a public holiday to honour RAMSI in their farewell program.
Earlier there was a call made through this paper’s Letters column calling on the government to consider allowing a day special break to allow the Honiara residents to come out and witness the final program.
I was at the final event at Lawson Tama on Thursday and the turn out was evident enough to see how the public had responded positively to come out and witness the program.
All because its a free day.
So thanks government for making this happen.
Some businesses may complain about the loss of work and production, but mind you, had it not been for RAMSI, Solomon Islands would not be like today, and there won’t be any conducive environment for businesses to operate.
Today, we have a free and safe business environment to do business.
Investments and businesses are flourishing now and our economy though struggling is making progress.
We are seeing huge investment opening up soon such as the mining, Tina hydro, undersea cable to name a few.
So it was a fair decision to have a special holiday.
In the meantime lets embrace the future and remain optimistic about this country given the current situation affecting our finance.
Our big brothers like Australia and New Zealand are not leaving us, so we are ever thankful for their ongoing support.
To RAMSI, thank you very much for your big support to this nation.
We have been on our knees, but you came to our rescue and lift us to be one of the successful country.
You have proven to be a success story for this region and the world.
So we thank you so much for bringing us back peace.
We are enjoying the hapi isles.
God bless all the countries who have supported this nation.
