Dear Editor – On behalf of west Rennell Council of Chief, I would like to give a round of applause to the Prime Minister for taking a bold decision to remove the Minister of Mines Day Pacha from office as Minister.
His duties and services in the Ministry has come to light, he is scheming with Ray Chu of APID to destroy the future of Rennell Island.
The decision made by the PM is seen as a wise decision and has received praise from the west Rennell council of chief and landowners like breath of fresh air.
This is after revelations that the former minister was found conspiring with miners and brokers.
West Rennell council of chief are working tirelessly with landowners and stakeholders to resolve land dispute to assist investment interest of that nature but yet Mr Pacha overlooked the importance of such role as if he is not aware of what was the root cause of uprising in his own constituency in the past years of ethnic tension.
Now it is a grave concern to West Rennell council of chief that its people are in danger of losing their human security attached to land use because of mining activities and the sacked minister lacks the insight and morality to protect them just for thirty pence, the price of a traitor and the betrayer of his own saviour and lordship.
On the other hand, the council highly acclaim the flexibility of individual, landowning groups and tribes of West Rennell for being open for dialogue, consult, and negotiate to allow development in their land.
West Rennell Council of Chief has been closely observing land issues associated with commercial interest in West Rennell land issues that have caused commotion as the people are made to struggle to regain their right because of fraud land registration.
The outcome revealed that the sacked Minister continually down played West Rennell landowners effort to his evil agendas with perpetrators of the Mining industry and as a result, land disputes are even more complex than ever to resolve as perceived in West Rennell.
The future of West Rennell resource is under question not because of landowning group decision but because of the attitude played by our leaders, both at the National and provincial level.
Even when resource owners requested the Ministry of Environment to assist damages made to their forest, land and general environment, both ministries ignore.
To regain confidence and trust of landowners towards the ministry of Mines, Forests and Environment in Particular, the people of West Rennell, I humbly ask the new responsible ministers of mines, forest and environment and others to continue to uphold ethical conducts and respect their oath to serve the people of the country in a fair and just manner.
As the chairman of the council, I strongly urge you Prime Minister and your Government, that as leaders, we must lead by examples and we need to rededicate ourselves to our national duties, first and foremost, to protect history, information, culture, people and their natural resources enshrined in the national constitution.
Once again, congratulations to you prime Minister for a job well done.
