THOUSANDS of people living in Honiara concluded their Easter celebration with muscle flexing when they hit the road for the annual Easter fun run, Monday morning.
The annual Easter Monday occasion attracted children, youths, women, leaders, expats, locals, visiting friends and families, all dressed in their respective uniforms to participate.
The route started at Lawson Tama stadium, up the Kola-Ridge cemetery towards the direction of the Governor General’s residence and down the Kukum market and back to Lawson Tama.
People came out in numbers representing companies, organizations and individuals from in and around Honiara.
Organised by the Rotary Club, the event has been gaining favour by Honiara residence every year and this year was no exception.
Prizes were also awarded when the race concluded at Lawson Tama.
Prizes given were under the overall open category, secondary schools category and primary school category for both male and female.
In addition to these categories, the consolation prize went to is the company with the biggest and the second biggest team.
His Excellency Governor General Sir Frank Kabui officiated in the prize giving ceremony after the run.
After the brief presentation of awards for the winners, organizers took time to thank the companies and organizations especially the Rotary Club for being the major sponsor and organizer of the annual event.
All proceeds raised during this event is in support the Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) program to send Solomon Islands children to Australia for life saving medical treatment.
