Two men and a woman accused of breaking into a shop’s storage container, stealing soft drinks worth more than $200, 000 are still without lawyers.
Charles Sanga and David Kereka yesterday told the court they have made requests to the Public Solicitor’s Office (PSO) but no one visited them as of yet.
The third accused, Margaret Lingali told the court she has not yet made a request.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo told them their matter is new and that it would take time for them to find lawyers.
He advised them all to make an effort to put their request to the PSO.
Mr Lapo told the two men to follow up on their request for lawyer made to the PSO and for Lingali to quickly make a request for a lawyer.
He told Lingali that she makes the request sooner as the PSO is facing shortage of manpower.
Mr Lapo then adjourned the matter to July 25 to give them time to find lawyers to represent them.
Police alleged the three accused including four others who are still at large, committed the offence from dates between 1 April, 2016 and 19 May.
Police alleged they stole more than 2, 000 cartons of American Cola soft drinks.
Police alleged they broke the container and during the period of April and May, continued to load cartoons of those drinks in hired taxis where they allegedly sold them in town.
The shop Grace Trading Limited is located at the Sun Valley area, at the Henderson Crossroad, East of Honiara.
Police Prosecutor Iete Tebakota represents the State.
