Three United football club in Fataleka, Malaita has won the Fataleka Malaita Day soccer tournament after edging their way past a determined Sulufoloa side 1-0 in the grand finals last week.
Equipped with some experienced players who plied their trade with some of the country’s renowned clubs, Three United seemed confident all throughout the match dominating the entire game.
The win gives Three United from the Fourau district a cash prize of $2000 and on second place Sulufoloa with $1000.
The third and fourth prizes were $800 and $500 respectively.
The sports event is hosted by the former national player, George Kiriau, former referee association president Paul Fia with the help of the Fourau Primary School Head Master.
A total of 22 teams from surrounding communities were part of the program.
The sports event was organized as part of Fataleka’s celebration for the Malaita Day.
