Isabel United, Waneagu FC, and Central Coast win TSL opening matches
VFRESH Isabel United, Waneagu FC and Central Coast FC kicked off their 2021/2022 Telekom S-league campaign with wins at Lawson Tama yesterday.
The opening match saw a resilient Vfresh Isabel United side edged former champion Solomon Warriors FC 3-2 to register their first three points.
Warriors took a 2-1 lead at half time but were unable to hold on to the lead as United came back with two goals in the second half to seal their first win.
“It’s always good to start off with a win especially against a tough team like Warriors.
“I thank my players for maintaining a strong play despite trailing by a goal in the first half, the fighting spirit was impressive.
“However it’s just the start so we have to maintain our top form,” United’s coach Batram Suri said.
For Warriors this is not a good start and coach Selson Molea understand there are areas they need to address before the next match.
The second match saw debutants Waneagu FC beat Marist 4-0 in an equally fought match.
This is a positive start of a new club and for sure was a good result for the hundreds of Waneagu fans who came out to witness the match.
Yesterday’s final match saw yet another entertaining match between KOSSA and Central Coast FC.
Coast won the match 3-1.
Another three matches is set for today.
Real Kakamora FC will play Southern United FC at 12pm, Henderson Eels FC and Kula FC at 2pm and Honiara City FC will take on Laugu FC at 4pm.
