More than 4000 mothers across the Honiara Archdiocese gathered together this week to celebrate Feast Day of Assumption of Mary.
The event is being held at the Saint Mother Teresa Family and Youth Retreat Center at Aruligo in North West Guadalcanal.
The program allowed the women to reflect on the challenges they face as mothers and their commitment to nurturing spiritual growth in their families.
Holy Cross Parish Desk Officer Ms Serah Manedetea said, this remarkable gathering gives the participating mothers the chance to learn together in transforming their families.
“This remarkable gathering gives Catholic mothers not only the opportunity to learn new things but also share their experiences and celebrate their grace and strength by participating in inspirational talks and activities organized for this weeklong program.
“We expect all the mothers who come to this special gathering to learn something new and I believe this gathering gives us new light and instils in us hope and encouragement to continue in our motherhood journey and nurture spiritual growth in our families, creating a positive impact on our homes and parishes,” Ms Manedetea added.
The program officially started on Sunday and will continue till Thursday and is convened under the theme, “Women of Prayer: Sowing Seeds of Holiness and Cultivating God’s love.”
The Feast Day of Assumption of Mary is an annual event held on August 15 to mark the Catholic Patron Saint – Our Lady of Assumption.
The Honiara Catholic Archdiocese celebrates the event after every three years in its different parishes. This year’s event is hosted by the Holy Cross Parish.
