Dear Editor – We write on the above subject to express our deepest disappointment on Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo led government to hijack the TRHDP from us by dealing with people outside Bahomea to pursue their self serving interest to use section 75 part two of the “land and little act” to compulsory acquired our lands to develop the Tina River hydro power scheme.
We truly disagreed to learn that the government with the project office blinded leaders outside Bahomea which are members of tribes registered under Bahomea house of chief with money luring to secretly sign a “process agreement” created under section 75 of the “Land and Title act” to compulsory acquired land blocks within our house of chief jurisdiction.
Hence, we want to make it clear here that we have agreed in our public forum meeting at Tina on the 24th June 2014 that we put a Tina River Hydro project “NO GO ZONE” meaning no vehicles, machines, officers to use Tina River Project site, and we’ll exhaust all avenues that this must not happen.
In addition, our views is that the current NCRA government led by MP for Gizo Kolombangara, Hon Gordon Darcy Lilo is truly taking advantage of our weakness to hijack our only most and valuable resources to serve its interest.
Thus, a 14 days’ notice will be submitted to your office for a peaceful demonstration to express our disappointment.
We would also like to inform other stake holders that dealings with regards to Tina River Hydro project such as that very soon will trigger communities, tribes and people’s conflict and tension; thus stake holders such as world bank that talk so much about indigenous people’s right, transparency, anti corruption practices than why continue to support project that led by people that does not practice those things, people who are already consumed with corruption and depend on it for survival.
Finally, we appeal to our other tribe members who are being fooled by this government to be considerate and think of others; for your own decision will victimize yourself, your kids and the future of Central Guadalcanal.
We suppose that lesson learned on Gold ridge should be concrete evidence of doing things with without understanding and knowing it.
Therefore, we like to seriously make it clear here are once more, NO MORE BAHOMEA PEOPLE, NO MORE HYDRO POWER SCHEME: NO WAY YOU CAN GO AHEAD.
