Former Baegu-Asifola MP in Malaita, David Tome, has secured the seat for his first full term in parliament.
Tome first won the seat in 2012 in a by-election following the death of Toswell Kaua, who claimed the seat in the 2010 elections.
His victory in last Wednesday’s polls means he has a full term of four years ahead of him.
Records showed Tome polled 1,904 votes. His runner up, Makario Tagini, received 1,759 votes.
Eleven candidates contested the seat.
A total of 5,373 votes were casted, 58 of which were rejected.
Total registered voters in the constituency were 6019. This means 636 registered voters did not cast their ballots.
