THE awareness program on tooth-brushing that was launched last month at Kukum Seventh Day Adventist School will be conducted at various schools in Honiara next week.
The dental department within the Ministry of Health and Medical service in partnership with Colgate Palmolive Limited Fiji will be conducting the awareness in all primary schools around the city.
Head of population oral health and research unit within the dental department Dr Elison Vane said, the program is scheduled for next week to allow the team to collect data at schools.
“Datas collected to see how many children attend each school so they can get equal share on tooth brushes and Colgates,”Mr Vane said.
He said, as part of their ongoing program their team will also show films about hygiene practices such as tooth brushing and hand washing with soap and distribute Colgate’s and tooth brushes to students.
Mr Vane said, they will also conduct awareness for parents about healthy hygiene and to stop practicing children to eat sugary foods which contain bacteria that can cause tooth decay.
Meanwhile he calls on teachers and students to participate in the program as it is important for children to get more ideas about keeping their teeth clean and healthy from tooth decay.
