Tourism company Solomon Host recently conducted Tourism & Hospitality training in Afio, South Malaita.
The training was requested by Honorable Rick Hou MP for South Malaita and funded by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism.
The training was conducted for a total of 4 days on Introduction to Tourism, Restaurant services, Events management, VIP and protocol services and Basic Cookery and pastry services.
Solomon Host Team also took the time to visit the Yam festival venue and point out actual ways of organizing the Yam festival particularly in VIP and protocol services , stage decoration and opening program procession.
The program was closed with a certificate presentation officiated by Honorable Rick Hou.
In his remarks, Hon. Hou stated that the training was very valuable for his people and that they are very fortunate to undergo such training programme.
He thanked Solomon Host for availing their time to conduct the training and the ministry of Culture and Tourism for funding the training.
He also requested for further training for other women folks in the region who have missed out.
Solomon Host CEO Joyce Konofilia also thanked the participants and Honorable Hou for the opportunity for her team to share their knowledge and skills to the good people of South Malaita, and hope they will utilize the skills they learnt to serve their guests in a professionally manner and also to start and manage their own businesses.
She thanked the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for funding the training and for working in partnership with Solomon Host to develop the local tourism industry.
