A TOURIST woman has been found dead in her room at the Heritage Park Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Information reaching the paper has revealed the 73 year old has been identified as Ms Pamela Ann Ryan who has sadly passed away while visiting the country for a break.
She arrived last Tuesday – 30 July and was due to leave today – 05 August but sadly she was found dead after returning from Western Province on Saturday – 3rd August.
Ms Ryan and colleagues are here as Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) guests.
An insider working at the Heritage Park hotel said the group arrived on Saturday evening checked in around 7pm.
When asked on what might be the causes of death, the informant said they have no idea but she must have been sick and was not getting medical treatment or attention.
Police were called on Sunday morning and took the deceased to the National Referral Hospital to allow investigation to be carried out.
It was also revealed that Ms Ryan is the sales manager of Pacific Destinations Centre based in Huntingdon Beach in California, United States (US) and is also an US passport holder.
Her next of kin in US as well as the Consular Agency of the United States (US) in Honiara have all been advised of the unfortunate situation.
It was also revealed that Ms Ryan is also an Australian citizen and was traveling on her Australian passport, therefore the Australian High Commission in Honiara is expected to be notified.
Its understood the deceased was part of a group that traveled to Western Province to mark the 76th anniversary of the Second World War (WWII) which was held on Friday at Kennedy Island near Gizo.
The island was named after former US president John F. Kennedy, who was rescued on the island when the ship he commanded was torpedoed and sunk off the island.
Guests attending the commemoration included seven visitors from the US and national government reps.
