OUTGOING Member of Parliament (MP) for East Guadalcanal, Bradley Tovosia has attracted more than 4000 voters during his campaign to 13 places in his constituency.
His campaign manager, Nevan Onorio claimed the high response from the voters put Tovosia as favourite over his other five contenders to retain his seat during the polling day on November 19.
“There are 6000 registered voters in the constituency.
“According to the data we collected, Tovosia had already secured 4250 voters, but it might increase to 4500 at the polling day,” he claimed.
Tovosia had entered the Parliament with 1,630 votes in 2010.
Mr Onorio claimed the increase of voters who followed him during his campaign came about because of the development plans he implemented in the last three years.
He said Tovosia had invested in agriculture in the first year by supporting constituents with cocoa beans and paid each one for $1 per tree after harvesting.
“So if a constituent plant 5000 trees, he or she will receive $5000 as well,” he said.
“In the second year, Tovosia supplied solar panels and lighting to each households.
“In the third year, Tovosia plans to supply iron roofing to 500 houses,” he said.
Mr Onorio said the materials have already being shipped to his constituency and stored in four storage houses in different locations.
“He will distribute the roofing iron after the election, otherwise they might think he is using them for campaigning now,” he said.
Mr Onorio said Tovosia is also a very strong contender because he was backed by late leader of Moro movement during his time in the Guadalcanal provincial government.
Tovosia held four ministerial portfolios in the last four years namely Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Public Service and Ministry of Environment.
