Police at Tulagi, Central Province, recently underwent Operation Safety Training.
This was to prepare the officers for public operations, and in particular, the upcoming national elections.
The training was facilitated by the team from police headquarters in Honiara.
Central Provincial Police Commander Fred Satu said the training was geared towards preparing his officers for the upcoming elections.
“This is to equip the officers with the skills they need to carry out their work,” Satu added.
“It was also organised to ensure the officers are kept physically fit to carry out their duties.”
Satu explained the training featured the use of sprays, tear gas and other equipment that can be used during riot situation.
Meanwhile,he said the same training will alsobe offered for police officers posted in other parts of the Central province.
“We are looking at extending it to officers in Yandina,” Satu said.
