MORE than 50 Guadalcanal teachers are attending a two-day workshop at Doma, west Guadalcanal, which will end today.
The workshop was one of the Guadalcanal provincial government’s strategies to improve and equip teachers in the province to effectively carry out their roles.
Guadalcanal provincial chief education officer Mesach Suia said the teachers’ appraisal implementation workshop was a very important one for teachers.
He said it will also bring teachers the development in their respective schools, especially when working together with communities and school leaders.
Mr Suia assured teachers that the workshop strengthen and equip teachers to be confident and become good role models in their schools and communities.
He added everything would work well for the province’s education system if they put their heads and work together as a team.
Mr Suia assured the teachers that his office will be dispatching monitoring teams to their schools shortly to do teachers’ assessments.
Solomon Star stringer John Toki said teachers attending the workshop were pleased with the contents of the workshop.
Mr Toki said some of the teachers described the workshop as enlightening and refreshing.
A senior teacher of Tasimboko school Robert Max Tagakule said such workshops would help teachers improve their performance.
Similar workshops will be held at other communities in the province in the near future.
