The Honiara City Council Works Division waste disposal unit has been briefed on how to improve on waste collection.
The brief training was conducted by Mike Savage, Contract Manager for the EnviroWay, a New Zealand based company.
Director for the Works Division John Labu said, the New Zealand Government has responded positively through a request from his division for such trainings.
He said, Savage has been with them for a week witnessing how the division operates and has been helping them on how to improve on waste collections around the City.
“I see this as a way forward to help the Works Division to improve on the waste collections.
“Throughout the week Mike has been accompanying the staffs to witness our system of waste collection,” he said.
“The training provides us some insights on how we can effectively carry out our tasks and also how to use the equipments properly,” he added.
He said his staff had also received some safety equipments to help them performing their tasks.
The Head of Division further thanked the New Zealand Government to make it possible for Savage to help the division with his expertise.
Labu also thanked the Mayor, his executive and the management for their support and extended his appreciation to his hardworking staffs and supervisors.
