A THREE-DAY community base business opportunity local resources utilization and management, planning workshop has ended over the weekend.
The workshop was held at New Tenabuti village, north- east Guadalcanal which attracted more than 6 communities.
The workshop was organized by Guadalcanal Eco-Tourism Development Service (GEDS) based in Honiara.
In an interview with director and facilitator Edison Judah Saeni, he said, that this was the first workshop for rural people.
“I am aiming at holding such farming trainings for the whole 50 constituencies in the country, he said.
“This is because I see that there’s a need for that and I beg myself to do it for my people, Mr. Saeni revealed.
He said, that during the three days training, he trained people of how to do farming in one particular area.
“Before, we get used of planting different plants at different locations but for this training, all plants can be planted in one area,” Mr Saeni told this paper.
He said, that more than 50 participants attended the training. All of them are local farmers.
He revealed that people there were very happy with training.
According to his findings during the training, there’s a big need for the government to do more trainings in rural communities.
“People there told me they want responsible authorities to do more farm training in rural areas,” Mr. Saeni told this paper.
He said that indeed, this is way forward to encourage people to develop local resources up to commercial level.
“I want to train people to turn local resources into commercial so that they can earn something at the end of the day, he added.
He revealed that he is aiming at reaching the whole country with his idea to tell people to grow more local food and upgraded it into commercial level.
Next week, he will going to Makira province with the idea and later to western province.
