SOLOMON ISLANDS female weightlifter, Jenly Wini Tegu is more determined to continue with her training as soon as she is released from Covid-19 quarantine.
Speaking to Star Sports yesterday, the country’s top female weightlifter confirmed that they are expected to be released from quarantine today.
Wini along with the country’s second top female weightlifter, Mary Kini have spent the past weeks at the GBR Covid-19 quarantine after returning from Nauru.
“As soon as we are released, we will go straight back to training.
“Though we do not know when this coronavirus pandemic threat will end, we will continue to keep our form and work even harder.
“There are competitions coming up and we must always be fully prepared,” she said.
Ms. Wini highlighted that she is still on an Olympic Scholarship so she must prove herself as a potential recipient by continuing her training.
“I am on an Olympic scholarship so even if there is no competition for our preparation we need to train.
“We also have an online competition which will go on for nine months so it will keep us engaged,” she added.
Ms. Wini also took the time to thank those who worked hard to get them back home safely after spending four months in Nauru.
“I would like to thank the government officials who were involved in facilitating our return back home.
“Acknowledgement also goes to the Nauru government, Oceania Nauru weightlifting president Hon. Marcus Stephen, NOCSI president Martin Rara, Solomon Islands weightlifting president Fujiyama and a big thanks go to Ronald Bai Talasasa for his support while we were in Nauru.
“We do not forget our family for their encouragement to stay positive and have confidence when we are far from home,” she said.
