TRIAL dates for the indecent act case that occurred last year on an 11-year-old girl has been set for May by the Honiara Magistrate Court, Monday.
The young man, who was 20 at the time of the alleged offending, is facing trial for one count of Indecent Act.
Magistrate Emily Zazariko Vagibule Pakoa set down May 5 to 9 for the trial.
The prosecution is intending to call four witnesses.
The matter will return to court on Friday for a bail application to be made for the young accused by his lawyer.
The young man allegedly committed the indecent act on 20 August 2024.
On the evening of that day, the prosecution alleged the victim and her brother were at the home of their aunt and uncle having dinner with them and their children.
After dinner, they watched a movie on the defendant’s phone.
Whilst they were watching movie, the alleged victim fell asleep.
The victim’s brother woke up the alleged victim and told her to go upstairs of the house and sleep, but the victim went down under the house and laid in a hammock.
Not long after that, the alleged victim fell asleep and whilst she was asleep, the defendant went and laid beside her and indecently touched her.
When the victim woke up, the defendant bit her on the left side of her neck, causing injuries.
The matter was reported to the police by the alleged victim’s uncle and aunt.
