A one week trial will kick off in August on the case of a man who allegedly set fire to the giant logging company Earth Mover’s bulldozers in August.
Principal Magistrate Jim Seuika fixed the hearing date yesterday in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court.
The trial will commence in August 11.
The accused, John Makasi is facing charges of arson in relation to an allegation between July 1 and July 21, 2008 at Marovo, Western province.
Prosecution alleged he set fire to three bulldozers owned by Earth Mover’s company.
He was allegedly procured by his co-accused to do commit the offence.
His co-accused who was the person who masterminded the arson had already been sentenced in 2011 after he was found guilty following a trial.
Makasi is being represented by the Public Solicitor’s Office while Crown Prosecutor Sirepu Ramosaea represents the State.
