TRIAL on the election petition case against Member of Parliament (MP) for Shortlands, Isikeli Vave Jr, will commence in the High Court on Monday March 24.
MP Vave faces 18 allegations of Bribery.
The three-week trial, to be presided over by Deputy Chief Justice Rex Faukona, will see over 60 witnesses take the stand.
The 60 witnesses comprise more than 20 witnesses of the petitioners and over 40 witnesses for MP Vave.
The case returns to the High Court this week for the final part of the Pre-Trial Conference, ahead of the upcoming trial.
The petition was filed by Christopher Laore and Silverio Ilaha Lepe, who lost to Mr Vave in last year’s National General Election (NGE) on April 17.
Gregory Muaki of Muaki Legal Practice & Consultancy represents the petitioners, whilst Billy Titiulu of Pacific Lawyers represents MP Vave.
MP Vave is the Minister for Home Affairs.
