Four of Solomons Islands best triathletes have traveled to Australia to compete and train with the region’s best.
Boris Teddy, JadNalo, Rocky Donald and AndrianaTukuvia were selected from athletes across the region to participate in a 12 month program as members of the Oceania Triathlon Union “Team OTU”, involving support for training and competition for the region’s most promising triathletes.
Solomon Islands has been identified as a “hotbed” of triathlon talent by the OTU, which was reflected in the selection of 4 Solomon Islands athletes for only 8 places in the pacific development team.
Boris, Jad, Rocky and Andriana, together with the TriSI Head Coach, Nathan Thomson Siofa, flew out of Honiara on Friday for a week in Sydney of specialized training.
In addition to the intensive coaching, the week alsoincludes participation in the Wollongong Continental Cup Triathlon, in which some of the top elite triathletes from across the globe compete.
A crowd of TriSI teammates, friends and families wished them good luck on their departure from Henderson Airport last Friday.
With months of hard training in preparation for this opportunity, the athletes were all looking forward to an exciting and challenging week ahead.
