THE country’s top tier football league, the Telekom S-league has been deferred to kick-off matches in two weeks’ time.
This was confirmed by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) on Thursday.
The tournament was initially proposed to resume matches this weekend.
The decision to delay the resumption of the league came following a recommendation from the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) secretariat to the Telekom S-League board.
According to a statement from SIFF, the deferment of the recommencement of the league was made given the situation surrounding the ongoing standoff between Honiara City Council (HCC) and SIFF regarding Lawson Tama Stadium and clubs pre-season after the festive season as most players are still in the provinces.
The TSL board approved Saturday 23rd January 2021 as the date for the resumption of the TSL 2020/2021 season.
All matches scheduled for this weekend will be carried forward to January 23rd, 24th, and 27th at Lawson Tama.
