Firisua calls on athletes to be serious and attend trainings
THE country’s long distance runner, Sharon Firisua has called on all athletics athletes still at their respective provinces to return and resume trainings for this year.
Ms Firisua made the call yesterday following a low turnout of athletes for Athletics first training session.
She highlighted the importance of making the most of all the time left before the start of the Pacific Games 2023.
“Fellow athletes for Athletics in the provinces, who are still having there holidays yet, please start your training now and for those of you in Honiara please come to Lawson Tama field on Monday afternoon for training.
“We must make good use of the time left for preparation,” she said.
Athletics athletes kicked off their training program as of yesterday despite the low turnout.
Yesterday’s session was a 20km run from the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) to the Turtle Beach and ended at the Kakabona beach.
Training sessions are conducted under the watchful eyes of coach Fujiyama.
Athletics and other individual sports are expected to take the lead in winning the proposed 40 gold medal in the Pacific Games 2023.
