WESTERN Turtles coach Alick Wickham says the Turtles have set their eyes on a spot in the semi-finals after securing valuable 3 points against a courageous Renbel Chiefs, Monday.
The Turtles secured maximum points in their 2-1 defeat of the Chiefs.
Wickham told the press after the win over Renbel the picture is getting clear.
“After the win against Renbel the picture is much clear where we are as a team in a strong group.
“We will go into our final group game with the same mentality shown in our past games,” he said.
Chiefs led the tie from a brilliant free kick scored by man of the match Eugine Tekobi in the first half.
Both sides went into the dressing room at half as Chiefs held on to their 1 goal lead.
The Wickham coached side came back stronger in the early stages of the second half.
A mistake by two Renbel defenders gifted the Turtles a leveller in the opening 5 minutes of the second stanza.
Match officials of the encounter made some controversial decisions by sending Renbel coach to for an early exit to the locker room.
Another dubious call by the referee saw Renbel centre forward Solli Seuika received a straight red card.
Moments after going a man down, Turtles scored the match winner.
As it stands, Western now leads the so called pool of death with 7 points.
Makira Ulawa are closing in behind with 6 points after their win over Isabel Frigates yesterday.
Defending champions Malaita Eagles who will play Renbel tomorrow occupied 3rd position with 4 points and two games in hand.
The Turtles just need a draw against Isabel tomorrow to advance to the semi-finals.
