TWO bishops from the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) have received their awards of recognition by the British Empire during the Queen’s birthday on Friday.
They are Bishop Nathan Tome from Guadalcanal Diocese and Retired Bishop Richard Basil Naramana from Ysabel diocese.
“I was very happy to receive this award that makes my day brighter this day,” Bishop Tome told the Solomon Star.
“Indeed my heart is lifted and I want to thank God for this reward,” he added.
He said that it is his first ever time to receive such a big award.
“I was engaging in church and community development mainly in sports so I want praise my God in heaven and the British Empire for recognizing me.”
Retired Bishop Naramana added that he was happy to receive his award.
“I know I was working very hard in the past and now all my hard work has been paid off today,” Mr Naramana said.
“Indeed I never deserve this but it happen, therefore I want to thank God and my people and the British Empire for recognizing me,” he said.
They were among others from various organizations who received their awards on Friday at the Lawson Tama stadium.
