TWO local women have been appointed to the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SICCI) Board of Directors.
The two included Lily Lomulo, Human Resources Manager of Solomon Tobacco and Kathy Nori, General Manageress of Isabel Development Company (IDC).
Mrs Lomulo of Isabel province replaced former board member and SITCO General Manager Shusendra Singh on this Board.
She has held various management roles over 17 years in the private sector covering Finance & Admin, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, and is currently a top team member for British American Tobacco Solomon Islands.
Mrs Lomulo has tertiary qualifications in Commerce and Finance, and has worked and trained in Australia, UK, Fiji, Samoa and PNG, gaining experience in regulatory management, media, corporate governance, accreditation in project management, coaching, & leadership.
Mrs Nori who also hails from Isabel, is co-owner, Director and Manageress of Nofokava Construction Limited, apart from managing the IDC which received a Special Commendation for the Prime Minister’s Business of the Year Award at the Solomon Islands Business Excellence Awards Gala Night end of August this year.
With SICCI being the voice of the private sector in Solomon Islands, the role that these two women will play within the Board will be crucial.
Both are naturally out-spoken, women of integrity and good standing within their organizations and respected by their fellow Board members.
They will certainly bring in the voice of women in the private sector, SME businesses as well as the large businesses which they also represent by their employment. Being local Solomon Islanders, both women no doubt have the best interest of Solomon Islands at heart.
Other members of the Executive Board include Chairman Tony Koraua (Daltron), Vice Chairman Jeremy Bartlett (Hatanga), Niall Downey (BeMobile), Geoff Buchanan (ANZ), Andy Hewson (Solbrew), Sir Bruce Saunders (United Risk Services), Justin Fuo’o (TGA) and Andrew Kerr (GPPOL).
