THE Malaita Provincial Capital of Auki has recorded two additional positive COVID-19 cases, says the Malaita Provincial Health Director Dr. Rex Maukera.
Speaking to Solomon Star Auki this morning (Thursday 27th January) Dr. Maukera said with the inclusion of the latest two positive cases, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Auki now stands at seven.
The Provincial Health Director said the two new positive cases were from the six COVID-19 swab tests sent over the weekend to Honiara for further verification.
Asked if Malaita health has conducted any latest COVID-19 swab tests after the two tests conducted so far, he said they have not conducted any swab tests lately.
In the first COVID-19 swab tests which was carried out on five suspected COVID-19 cases in Auki last week all came back positive with COVID-19.
A second COVID-19 swab test was done over the weekend in which six COVID-19 suspects in total were tested. Two of the six tested came back with positive COVID-19 results.
So far, 11 COVID-19 swab tests were carried out in Auki, of which seven of them came back with COVID-19 positive results.
