Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro and Wagina in Choiseul province have arrested and remanded two young men in relation to the death of an expatriate (Australian) on Kaghau Island.
It was alleged that the two young men attacked 80-year-old Erik Djokovic at his home early in the morning on 21 January 2025.
The victim was seriously injured and badly wounded after the attack and has been referred to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) for further medical attention and unfortunately passed on due to the seriousness of the injuries.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Simpson Pogeava said; “violence against old people and children is unacceptable in our communities. We must come together as a community to protect our elderly and ensure that incidents like this do not happen in our communities.”
The suspects have been remanded, and the investigation into this matter continues.
AC Pogeava calls on individuals with relevant information to come forward and assist police to ensure those involved face justice for what they have done.
Taro Police can be contacted on phone 63199 or 63100.
