Local stars thrash NWS Country 13-0
THE national U12 futsal team have maintain their winning streak, thrashing NWS Country 13-0 in the day two of the Australian State Championship in Sydney, yesterday.
The victory pushed them to the top of the table in their pool with 9 points from three matches.
Excited U12 Head Coach Frax Ramofafia told Star Sport from Australia that despite the cold weather in Australia the local boys (U12) brilliantly performed according to their game plan.
“Despite the cold weather the boys have maintained their game and kept strong,’’ he said.
“We are all just focusing and keeping our focus on the reason we came here,” Ramofafia told Star Sports yesterday.
He said so far the U12’s won their three matches in a row.
They beat South Australia 7 -4 in the first game followed by 8-3 victory against Victoria and then thrashed NSW Country 13-0 yesterday.
Meanwhile, U14 had a second defeat yesterday morning to Queensland Metro 5-1 before they bounced back in the evening with a 3-1 victory over NSW Country.
U14’s have already played four games in which they won two and lost two.
Their head coach Stanley Puairana also told Star Sports that his boys are doing well but need to adjust to play according to their game plan.
“It was a good defensive game, still some niggling points to fine tune but all in all a good well rounded game,’’ he said.
The local boys also received overwhelming supports from their Dural Baptist Church who had a long time relationship with Solomon Islands Sports Coalition who led team Solomons to the competition.
Dural Baptist rep Daniel P expressed his excitement on how the local boys performed in the tournament and urged them to keep aiming high for their remaining matches.
“The boys played well, much more positive approach, and getting used to Australian Futsal,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, both teams will play their final pool matches today as the competition heading towards the second stage of the championship after today matches.
