The Solomon Power U14 National championship semi finals set as four (4) teams from each category (girls and boys) secured their spot in the semi-finals after their respective wins in the final group matches on Wednesday.
Thursday’s clash will be for ranks by the teams that can’t able of making it to the semi finals before the semi final would kick off in the afternoon including Friday.
Since the championship kicked off on Monday early this week, match actions have been in intense mood as teams are eyeing a spot in the semi finals.
After completion of group matches on Wednesday for both the categories, a total of four teams from each category have made it into the semi finals following their respective wins in group matches.
For the boy’s category, Malaita go top of group A with 7 points after beating Makira 4-0 in their final group A match yesterday.
Lauru despite defeated Western 2-1 in the final group match yesterday, Western emerged as the runner up in group B only overtaking Lauru in goal difference.
While in Group B, Honiara emerged as the top table leader with 9 points after winning their 3 group matches respectively and Rennel being the group runner up after a hard fought win 2-0 over Guadalcanal.
In girl’s category, Malaita go top of group A with 7 points after defeating Western 2-0 in the final group match yesterday.
Makira secured the runner up spot and booked their spot it the semi final after they shared point with Lauru in a dramatic encounter ended up nil all.
Meanwhile, Star Sport on Wednesday caught up with the U14 men’s defending champions team Malaita assistance coach Jerry Webo.
Webo told star sport that he was happy with the boy’s performance and able to make it to the semi finals.
“The semi finals will not be easy but as the defending champions we are aiming of reclaiming the title,” Webo said.
“Now we will go back and work on few areas that we need to work on before our semi-final match”, Webo added.
Coach Webo revealed that they are eying to reclaiming the title so they will have to work extra harder in the semi-finals on Friday.
