IUMI PLAY U14 national championship 2024 grand final is set after the completion of the semi finals on Thursday.
In an entertaining semi-final clashes on Thursday at Lawson Tama stadium, Malaita and Honiara are set to meet in the grand final showdown this afternoon, Friday, after booking their grand final spot respectively.
Malaita booked its grand final spot after defeating Central Islands 3-2 on Thursday.
It was indeed an intense clash between both teams but Malaita was something else going down with a two goals to 1 in the early minutes of the second half before they came back with an equalizer at the end of the second to level the score to push in the extra time.
In the extra time, Malaita with the determination put on extra efforts and find the right the right combination scoring their winning goal to make it 3-2 against Central Islands.
While in the second semi finals saw Honiara defeated Western 6-0 to book their place in the grand final against Malaita.
Speaking to Star Sport after the match Malaita head coach David Fiumae, said he is more than happy and excited with the boys for the victory and making it to the grand finals.
Fiumae said, its not easy but his boys were able to execute the game and make it to the grand final. He further thanked God for giving the players strength to play the match.
He said in the early minutes of the second half his boys went down with a goal down but were able to bounce back stronger and got the sweet victory.
Fiumae said, going against Honiara will not be easy but he has trust on the boys that they can once again do it if they execute their game plan.
Meanwhile, grand final is set for this afternoon at the Lawson Tama stadium after ranking matches will be completed in the morning.
