The United Democratic Party of Solomon Islands and the Chinese Communist Party will discuss the possibility of forming party to party relations.
This is an understanding reached between Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, and visiting Counsellor of the PNG-based Chinse Embassy, WANG GENHUA in Honiara this week.
Mr Sogavare is the Parliamentary Wing Leader of the United Democratic Party, the major partner in the Democratic Coalition for Change Government.
Mr GENHUA told Prime Minister Sogavare that he will convey the message to Beijing, the capital of China.
Mr Sogavare and MR GENHUA agreed that party to party relations could be formally established although there is no official relationship between Honiara and Beijing.
China buys Solomon Islands logs which in turn imports most of its retail and wholesale goods from China.
Prime Minister Sogavare had described China as his country’s biggest trading partner.
