Scholars from Ulawa Ugi studying at the various Universities in Fiji will run an educational tour to their communities on from December 3 to motivate them on the importance of education.
Called themselves ‘Ulawa Ugi Scholars for Change,’ the group’s version was to empower young generations to pursue for higher education.
Vice President Julius Sulu said well educated population is the foundation to developing a brighter future for their communities so putting more emphasis on education is important.
“An educated population is the foundation of brighter future. A future where there is minimal crime, less social problems, better health, clean and sustainable and strong Christian principles,” he said.
Mr Sulu said their aim was also to bring together their scholars with different qualifications to share ideas, discuss and develop plans where they can use to build a better future for their communities.
“This includes empowering families, youths and all the rural folks on certain areas who are seen needed to be reminded,” he added.
Mr Sulu urges the community around Honiara to assist them with financial.
Mr Sulu said despite the fact that they are yet to receive a $30,000.00 pledge money from their out-going MP, that would not stop them to carry out educational awareness program which was already started last year end (2014) and early this year (2015) on Ulawa Island.
He said they are looking forward to work in partnership with any new elected MP to drive their constituency in any development plans.
The group will organize their final fundraising on November 29th before departing for Ugi on December 3.
