SOLOMON Islands Rugby Union Federation will stage trail matches today to commence the screening process for an Under-20 squad that will represent the country in the upcoming Ocean Under-20s Rugby 15s tournament that will be played in September at a venue yet to be finalised.
SIRUF Admin Manager Nick Hatigeva confirmed this to Star Sports in a statement.
“SIRUF is calling on schools in Honiara who have submitted lists for the said trials to ensure that their players find their way to Panatina oval today for the said trials,’’ Hatigeva said.
“Players from the provinces who are already in Honiara and any other students or age grade players from the clubs who fall under the 20 years age or under category who may not have been listed, but who are interested to take part in the trials are also reminded to find their way to Panatina oval today,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the scheduled trials will kick off at 12 midday today and players are asked to be at the field before then so that SIRUF officials can brief everyone on the procedures that will be followed and how the trial games will be conducted.
For enquiries players, schools and clubs can contact the SIRUF Manager, Nick Hatigeva, via mobile 7162155.
