Dear Editor – It was good to see the rapid repair works of the city’s highway in Honiara prior to the RAMSI’s farewell celebration last week.
Contractors have been working flat out even during the night to fix the roads and patch up the pot holes.
Some contractors are continuing with their work but there are others who have now stopped.
I have seen some sections of the road which are still dotted with potholes. They are yet to be patched.
An example of this is the West Honiara highway starting from Townground all the way down to White River.
Although there have been work being done to cover the pot holes and tarsealed them, there remains pot holes at some of the parts of the roads.
Has MID ever inspected the work done by the contractors.
It seems the contractors are not doing their work properly.
They patched up certain sections of the roads while some parts of the roads nearby are still left with pot holes.
MID and the contractors are responsible for these unfinished jobs.
Fortunately, the visiting dignitaries never went past the Rove area during their visit here.
But for the ordinary tax payers, its very disappointing.
Lets not try to hide our true colours by fixing the roads in the last minutes to please our visitors and then left the citizens to suffer once they left.
I hope MID and the contractors can do something about it.
