Western Turtles lost to Western United 3-1 during a friendly at the Burnscreek school football pitch yesterday.
The friendly match was to prepare Turtles for the upcoming Solomon Games while United also took the opportunity to shape up their preparation for forthcoming Telekom Soccer League.
The match was played eight hours after members of the Turtle arrived in Honiara from Gizo in the morning onboard MV Fair Glory.
United equipped with most of the national players with the likes of Benjaman Totori, Junior Fa’arodo, Judd Molea, Joses Nawo, Gagame Feni and others were more strong-minded to at least go home with success.
Both teams displayed some good football works and scoring opportunities.
Turtles’ skipper Hickey Rence told Star Sports after the friendly match that it was a good warm up match for his side ahead of their first games this Friday.
Meanwhile Turtles will play their first match against Temotu on Friday at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
