Marist seals 2016 TSL title
Former Telekom S-league champion, Western United football club (FC) has secured a place in the upcoming Oceania Champions League following their three-all draw (3-3) with KOSSA FC at the Lawson Tama Stadium, Tuesday.
KOSSA did made a good start in yesterday’s game taking the lead, a goal by Charlie Otainao.
United bounced back with an equalizer by James Naka before the end of the first half.
Otainao struck again extending KOSSA’s lead followed shortly with a third goal by substitute, George Suri.
However this did not stop United who made two important switches, Gagame Feni who came in for Naka and Paul Wale for Moffat Kilifa.
Both substitute proved their coach’s decision right scoring two goals for United to level the scores.
The draw gave United 32 points, the same as Solomon Warriors FC but with a higher goal difference.
KOSSA FC remains on fifth position with 26 points.
This means United joins Marist FC to be the second club qualified for the Oceania Champions League.
Meanwhile United’s chances of winning this season’s TSL title vanished after yesterday’s result.
The outcome showed Marist stands out as the title winners for this season having had 37 point with one game yet left to play.
Both United and Marist has one match each left to play.
Their matches will be played on Saturday.
