UNLICENSED related cases topped police’s weekend traffic operations in the capital.
The police media unit yesterday revealed that out of the 605 vehicles that have been checked during the weekend traffic operations, 22 have been detained with the drivers arrested and charged.
“Out of the 22 traffic cases recorded over the weekend, only four were alcohol related, the rest were all unlicensed cases.
“These cases range from driving without valid license or driving expired vehicles and so forth.
“We (police) have so far detained, arrested and charged those that had been involved in these matters,” a spokesperson from the media unit revealed.
He also revealed that a total of four traffic accidents were recorded, one of which involved the hit and run case near the central market which left a teenager dead.
“All four traffic accidents occurred between Friday night and Sunday morning,” he said.
Meanwhile the police media unit also revealed that two people have been arrested in relation to a hit and run incident over the weekend.
